Heat Exchanger

The Heat Exchanger is a compact and efficient piece of equipment designed for efficient heat transfer between two fluids. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for the passage of the fluids. The plate pack is assembled between a fix frame plate and a movable pressure plate, which are compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket that seals the channels and directs the fluids into alternate channels.

The plate corrugations promote fluid turbulence and support the plates against differential pressure. The frame plate and pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both fixed to a support column. The connections are located in the frame plate, allowing for single or multiple passes within the unit.

Gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchangers (GPHEs) provide efficient heat transfer in a compact design, much smaller and more efficient than traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The corrugated plates in the plate heat exchangers optimize heat transfer by providing a large surface area for the heat exchange process.
