Heat Exchanger

The heat exchanger consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for the passage of the two fluids between which heat transfer will take place. It is designed to optimize heat transfer, thanks to the corrugated plates that provide the greatest surface area for efficient heat transfer. The plate pack is assembled between a fix frame plate and a movable pressure plate, which are compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket that seals the channels and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined by factors such as the flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop, and temperature program. The plate corrugations promote fluid turbulence and support the plates against differential pressure.

The heat exchanger offers efficient heat transfer in a compact equipment with a small footprint, making it much smaller and more efficient than shell-and-tube heat exchangers. This results in lower overall costs, including reduced capital investment, installation costs, and maintenance and operating costs. The heat exchanger also provides maximum reliability with less fouling, stress, wear, and corrosion. It is environmentally responsible, consuming minimum energy for maximum process effect and reducing the need for cleaning.
