The heat exchanger offered by Shanghai Empire Mechanical Engineering Co., Ltd. is a highly efficient and compact equipment designed for optimal heat transfer. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for the passage of two fluids, enabling effective heat transfer between them.
The plate pack is assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate, which are compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket that seals the interpolate channel and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined based on factors such as flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop, and temperature program.
The corrugations on the plates promote fluid turbulence and provide support against differential pressure. The frame plate and pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both fixed to a support column. Connections are located in the frame plate for units where either or both fluids make more than a single pass.
Gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchangers (GPHEs) offer efficient heat transfer in a compact design, with a smaller footprint compared to shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The corrugated plates in the heat exchanger provide a significantly larger surface area for heat transfer between gases or liquids.
