The gasketed plate heat exchanger from Shanghai Empire Mechanical Engineering Co., Ltd. is a highly efficient and compact equipment designed for optimal heat transfer. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for the passage of fluids between which heat transfer occurs.
The plate pack is assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate, which are compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket that seals the interpolate channel and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined by factors such as flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop, and temperature program.
The corrugations on the plates promote fluid turbulence and provide support against differential pressure. The frame plate and pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both fixed to a support column. Connections are located in the frame plate for single or multiple passes of the fluids within the unit.
Gasketed plate heat exchangers offer efficient heat transfer in a compact design, with a smaller footprint compared to shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The corrugated plates provide a large surface area for enhanced heat transfer between gases or liquids. These units are also flexible in design and easy to service and maintain.
