Heat Exchanger


A heat exchanger is a crucial component that facilitates the efficient transfer of heat between two fluids. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for fluid passage. The plate pack is compressed between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate using tightening bolts. To ensure proper sealing and fluid direction, the plates are equipped with gaskets. The number of plates is determined by factors such as flow rate, fluid properties, pressure drop, and temperature program. The corrugations on the plates promote fluid turbulence and provide support against differential pressure. The frame plate and pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both fixed to a support column. The connections are strategically placed in the frame plate, allowing for single or multiple passes of the fluids within the unit.


Efficient Heat Transfer


Gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchangers (GPHEs) offer highly efficient heat transfer in a compact equipment design with a small footprint. Compared to shell-and-tube heat exchangers, plate heat exchangers provide significantly larger surface area for heat transfer due to the corrugated plates.
