Heat Exchanger


A heat exchanger is a compact and efficient equipment used for heat transfer between two fluids. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes, which allow the fluids to pass through and exchange heat. The plate pack is assembled between a fix frame plate and a movable pressure plate, ensuring a tight seal with the help of gaskets. The number of plates is determined based on factors such as flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop, and temperature program.


The corrugations on the plates promote fluid turbulence and provide support against differential pressure. The frame plate and pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both fixed to a support column. The connections are located in the frame plate, allowing for single or multiple passes of the fluids within the unit.


Efficient Heat Transfer


Gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchangers (GPHEs) offer highly efficient heat transfer in a compact design. Compared to traditional shell-and-tube heat exchangers, GPHEs have a smaller footprint and are more efficient. The corrugated plates in plate heat exchangers provide a large surface area, optimizing heat transfer between gases or liquids.


These units are also designed with flexibility in mind, making them easy to service and maintain.
