The heat exchanger is a crucial component in various industries, designed to facilitate efficient heat transfer between two fluids. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes for fluid passage. These plates are assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate, which are compressed using tightening bolts. A gasket is fitted on the plates to seal the channels and direct the fluids into alternate channels, promoting fluid turbulence and supporting the plates against pressure differentials. The number of plates is determined by factors such as flow rate, fluid properties, pressure drop, and temperature program.
