Heat Exchanger



The heat exchanger is a crucial component in efficient heat transfer between two fluids. It consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes that allow the fluids to pass through. The plate pack is assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate, which are compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are equipped with a gasket that seals the channels and directs the fluids into alternate paths. The number of plates is determined by factors such as flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop, and temperature program. The corrugations on the plates promote fluid turbulence and provide support against differential pressure. The heat exchanger is suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both fixed to a support column. The connections are located in the frame plate for units where the fluids make more than one pass.


Efficient Heat Transfer



Gasketed plate-and-frame heat exchangers (GPHEs) offer highly efficient heat transfer in a compact design. These heat exchangers have a small footprint and are much more efficient compared to shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The plate design optimizes heat transfer by providing a large surface area for the exchange of heat between the two fluids. Additionally, these units are flexible, easy to service, and maintain.
